For A Light in August, that idea was to unite our community in support of an extraordinary cause — creating life-changing opportunities for students with special needs at Kloda Whitebook Kesher Academy.
 

Throughout my career in public service, I have seen what is possible when government, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and residents work together toward a common purpose. A Light in August was founded on the belief that we can harness that same spirit of collaboration to make a lasting difference in the lives of children and families throughout our community.
 

What began as a single evening of philanthropy has become a growing regional tradition, bringing together municipal leaders, corporate partners, and generous supporters who share a commitment to inclusion, opportunity, and hope. Together, we help provide educational experiences — including Kesher Academy's annual cultural journey to Israel
— that inspire confidence, independence, and lifelong memories for remarkable students.
 

This event is about more than fundraising. It is about building relationships, strengthening our community, and demonstrating what is possible when people choose to invest in one another. Every sponsor, volunteer, donor, and guest plays an essential role in that mission.
 

As A Light in August continues to grow, my hope is that it becomes one of South Florida's enduring philanthropic traditions — an event that not only celebrates generosity but also transforms lives for generations to come.
